It may also help to prevent an infection after an eye injury or surgery.
Tobizap Eye Ointment is an antibiotic. It stops bacterial growth in the eye by preventing synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. This treats your eye infection.
What bacteria does Tobizap Eye Ointment kill?
Tobizap Eye Ointment is effective against a broad range of bacteria. It's important to note that Tobizap Eye Ointment should only be used for susceptible bacteria. The following bacteria are known to be killed by Tobizap Eye Ointment: *Staphylococcus aureus* and *S. epidermidis*, certain Streptococci species, *Pseudomonas aeruginosa*, *Escherichia coli*, *Klebsiella pneumoniae*, *Enterobacter aerogenes*, *Proteus mirabilis*, *Morganella morganii*, most *Proteus vulgaris* strains, *Haemophilus influenza*, and *H. aegyptius*. *Moraxella lacunata*, *Acinetobacter calcoaceticus*, and some *Neisseria* species are also known to be killed by Tobizap Eye Ointment. Your doctor will evaluate if this medicine is suitable for your condition.
How long should I use Tobizap Eye Ointment?
The duration of treatment for Tobizap Eye Ointment will be determined by your doctor based on the severity of your infection. For mild to moderate infections, you may be prescribed 1-2 drops four times a day. In more severe cases, your doctor may recommend 2 drops every hour. It's crucial not to exceed or deviate from the prescribed dosage or frequency; always follow your doctor’s instructions precisely.
How should I use Tobizap Eye Ointment?
Always wash your hands before using the eye drops. Avoid touching the dropper tip against any surface, and keep it clean. Gently tilt your head slightly and apply one drop to your eye. After applying a drop, close your eyes for 2 or 3 minutes while keeping your head tilted down. Avoid blinking or squinting. To ensure proper placement of the medication, gently press your finger to the inner corner of your eye for approximately 1 minute to prevent the liquid from draining into your tear duct. If you use more than one drop, wait about 5 minutes between each application. At least 10 minutes should pass before applying any other prescribed eye drops.
