Timolong Eye Drop is used to treat elevated intraocular pressure (high pressure inside the eye) in people with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma. Timolong Eye Drop is a beta blocker that helps reduce the risk of vision loss in people with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma. It lowers the pressure in the eye by decreasing the production of fluid. Always wash your hands before using Timolong Eye Drop. Use only the number of drops that your doctor has prescribed. If you wear soft contact lenses, remove them before using the drops and wait for at least 15 minutes before putting them back in. If you are also using other eye medicines, wait for at least 10 minutes before using them.
Timolong Eye Drop is a beta blocker. It works by decreasing the production of aqueous humour (fluid in the eye) thereby lowering the increased eye pressure.

Timolong Eye Drop reduces intraocular pressure, which helps prevent optic nerve damage, a key cause of vision loss. If uncontrolled, intraocular pressure can contribute to blindness. This medication effectively manages ocular hypertension and certain glaucoma types by lowering eye pressure.
How should you use Timolong Eye Drop?
Timolong Eye Drop is typically instilled once or twice daily at evenly spaced intervals until intraocular pressure is under control (about 4 weeks). After achieving desired control, it can be used once daily as prescribed by your doctor. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully and ask any questions you may have.
Can I stop Timolong Eye Drop if I am fine now?
No, discontinuing Timolong Eye Drop without consulting your doctor is not advisable. If you stop taking this medication abruptly, the eye pressure control may be compromised, increasing the risk of vision loss.
When should I seek a doctor’s advice?
Contact your doctor immediately if you develop any eye infections, conjunctivitis, or eyelid reactions. Inform your doctor about any eye injuries or recent eye surgeries. Discuss the continued use of Timolong Eye Drop with your doctor.
Can I use Timolong Eye Drop with contact lenses?
No, you should remove your contact lenses before instilling Timolong Eye Drop. You may re-insert them after 15 minutes of using the medication. If you experience persistent eye irritation, consult your doctor.
This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Hold the dropper close to the eye without touching it. Gently squeeze the dropper and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid. Wipe off the extra liquid.
- Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute immediately after instilling the drop.
- Wait for at least 5-10 minutes before delivering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution.
- Notify your doctor if you have lung or heart diseases as Timolong Eye Drop may worsen these conditions.
- Make sure to use within 4 weeks of opening the bottle.
- Stinging sensation may occur for 1-2 mins. Notify your doctor if it persists for longer.
Breastfeed
Timolong Eye Drop is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Pregnancy
Timolong Eye Drop may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you.
