Surecef-OX Oral Suspension is an antibiotic medicine that treats bacterial infections in children and adolescents. Surecef-OX Oral Suspension is an antibiotic medicine that treats bacterial infections that may affect your child's eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, bone and joints, gastrointestinal tract, and urinary tract. It can also be used in treating typhoid fever in children and adolescents.
Surecef-OX Oral Suspension contains two antibiotics. Cefixime works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) while ofloxacin directly interacts with the genetic material of bacteria. As a consequence, the infection-causing bacteria stop growing further and the spread of the infection is successfully arrested.
What happens if I accidentally give my child too much of Surecef-OX Oral Suspension?
Giving an extra dose of Surecef-OX Oral Suspension by mistake is unlikely to cause harm. However, it's essential to remain vigilant as overdoses can lead to unwanted side effects and potentially worsen your child's condition. If you think your child has taken too much, please consult with a doctor immediately.

Some severe possible side effects include persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergies, diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. Always seek medical help if your child experiences these symptoms.

In some cases, the dosage may be adjusted.

Yes, the infection-causing bacteria can become resistant to Surecef-OX Oral Suspension due to irregular dosing, repeated use, or misuse of the medication. Resistant bacteria are no longer killed by the antibiotics and may lead to reinfection.
What should I tell my doctor before giving Surecef-OX Oral Suspension to my child?
Inform your doctor if your child has any pre-existing medical conditions such as heart disease, genetic disorders involving blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (allergy from sunlight), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. This is because there may be a risk that Surecef-OX Oral Suspension could worsen these conditions and lead to complications.
Give this medicine with food to avoid an upset stomach. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Surecef-OX Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine.
- Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or become resistant or cause another infection.
- Do not give this medicine for conditions like common cold and flu, which are caused by viruses.
- Only give Surecef-OX Oral Suspension to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses.
- Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child's doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.
