Sicriptin 1.25 Tablet is a dopamine receptor agonist. It decreases the release of prolactin (milk hormone) in the body. Overproduction of this hormone is associated with abnormal production of breast milk as well as suppression of the sexual glands which can cause infertility. Reducing prolactin levels with Sicriptin 1.25 Tablet can therefore improve these conditions. In acromegaly, it works by lowering the amount of growth hormone in the body.
Use caution while driving or doing anything that requires concentration as Sicriptin 1.25 Tablet can cause dizziness and sleepiness. Rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down. Do not take Sicriptin 1.25 Tablet if you are breastfeeding. Monitoring of blood pressure may be advised regularly during treatment with Sicriptin 1.25 Tablet.
Hyperprolactinemia is a condition where the body has higher-than-normal levels of prolactin, a hormone produced by the brain's pituitary gland. Prolactin plays a role in regulating periods and breast milk production. High prolactin levels can cause irregular or absent periods, affect fertility, and lead to low bone density in women who aren't pregnant. It also impacts testosterone levels (male sex hormone).
A blood test can measure prolactin levels. If the level is borderline, repeated tests may be needed to confirm the diagnosis. Your doctor may also perform a physical exam and an MRI of the brain as part of the evaluation process.
Prolactin levels vary based on gender and pregnancy status: * **Men:** Less than 20 ng/mL (425 µg/L) * **Non-pregnant women:** Less than 25 ng/mL (25 µg/L) * **Pregnant women:** 80 to 400 ng/mL (80 to 400 µg/L)
The cause of hyperprolactinemia can be unknown. Some common causes include: * Noncancerous pituitary gland tumors * Overactive pituitary gland * Underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) * Certain medications * Stress
High prolactin levels can lead to breast milk production in both men and women who are not pregnant or breastfeeding. In women, it can cause menstrual problems and infertility (inability to get pregnant). In men, it can lead to low sex drive and erectile dysfunction (ED).
Sicriptin 1.25 Tablet is used to lower prolactin levels. By lowering prolactin, it helps women ovulate and may increase the chances of a successful pregnancy. However, pregnancy success depends on various factors such as age, timing, sexual intercourse frequency, underlying medical conditions, and the quality of eggs and sperm.
High prolactin levels inhibit the release of FSH (the hormone that triggers ovulation). So, if your prolactin levels are high, you may have suppressed ovulation. That's why women who are breastfeeding and have high prolactin levels rarely get pregnant.
Sicriptin 1.25 Tablet doesn't increase fertility directly, but it helps regulate prolactin levels. This can sometimes help ovulation and improve chances of conception with further treatments.
Yes, Sicriptin 1.25 tablet is often prescribed for patients experiencing high blood pressure. It can lead to a decrease in blood pressure and may cause dizziness or lightheadedness upon standing, which could result in collapse in people with low blood pressure.
Consults with your doctor is essential before combining Sicriptin 1.25 tablet with other blood pressure medications, as it may cause excessive hypotension and dizziness.
Avoid drinking alcohol when taking Sicriptin 1.25 tablet, as alcohol can increase the severity of side effects and impact ovulation in both men and women. It is also advisable to avoid consuming alcohol while undergoing treatment with this medication.
