Sibofix 200 Tablet is an antibiotic medicine used to treat infectious diarrhea. Sibofix 200 Tablet can be used alone or in combination with other medicines. It may be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. It should be used in the dose and duration as advised by the doctor. Take it at the same time each day to get the most benefit and you should keep on taking this medicine for as long as you are prescribed. Stopping it early may make the infection to come back and harder to treat.
Sibofix 200 Tablet is an antibiotic. Sibofix 200 Tablet inhibits the bacteria's ability to make proteins and stops the growth of bacteria that cause infectious diarrhea.
How long should you take Sibofix 200 Tablet?
The duration of treatment with Sibofix 200 Tablet depends on the condition being treated. For traveler's diarrhea, it is usually taken for 3 days. For irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), it is generally taken for 14 days.
Does Sibofix 200 Tablet cure IBS?
Sibofix 200 Tablet can help improve symptoms and delay recurrence of IBS. However, it's not certain if it will completely cure the disease. It has shown efficacy in managing diarrhea, abdominal pain, and discomfort. Please consult your doctor for specific guidance on IBS treatment.
How long does Sibofix 200 Tablet take to work for IBS?
Sibofix 200 Tablet generally starts working within 24 to 48 hours. Symptoms like diarrhea improve gradually after starting the medication. Generally, taking Sibofix 200 Tablet for 2 weeks relieves IBS symptoms. It has also been observed that this 2-week course of Sibofix 200 Tablet provides relief for up to 10 weeks even after stopping the medication.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Sibofix 200 Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
- You have been prescribed Sibofix 200 Tablet for the treatment of infectious diarrhea.
- It should only be taken for a maximum of three days. If your symptoms do not improve after three days, inform your doctor. Do not take a second course of Sibofix 200 Tablet.
- It may cause reddish discoloration of urine. This is normal and harmless.
- Stop taking Sibofix 200 Tablet and inform your doctor if your diarrhoea gets worse or starts to contain blood or mucus.
- Finish the full course of the medication even if you feel better. Stopping the course early increases the risk of coming back of the infection.
Alcohol
It is not known whether it is safe to consume alcohol with Sibofix 200 Tablet. Please consult your doctor.
Breastfeed
Sibofix 200 Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Pregnancy
Sibofix 200 Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
