Serliv Syrup is a combination medicine used to treat loss of appetite. It is an effective appetite stimulant. Serliv Syrup is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect or be affected by this medicine.
Serliv Syrup is a combination of three medicines: Cyproheptadine, tricholine citrate and sorbitol which revives appetite. Cyproheptadine is an appetite-stimulant. It works by reducing the effect of a chemical messenger (serotonin) in the hypothalamus a part of the brain which regulates appetite. Tricholine citrate is a bile acid binding agent which removes bile acids from the body. The liver then produces more bile acids using cholesterol as a result of which cholesterol level is lowered. Sorbitol acts as a syrup base and also as an osmotic laxative to relieve constipation.
Does Serliv Syrup cause dryness in the mouth?
Yes, Serliv Syrup can cause dry mouth. If you experience dry mouth, drink plenty of water. Take regular sips throughout the day and keep some water by your bed at night. You may use lip balm if your lips are also dry.
Can Serliv Syrup cause dizziness?
Yes, Serliv Syrup can cause dizziness (feeling faint, weak, unsteady or lightheaded) in some patients. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded, it is better to rest for some time and resume once you feel better. Do not drive or use any machines.
What is the recommended storage condition for Serliv Syrup?
Store this medicine in its original container or pack, tightly sealed. Follow the instructions on the label regarding storage. Dispose of unused medication properly and ensure it is not accessible to pets, children, or other individuals.
