Does over-brushing cause sensitive teeth?
Brushing your teeth too frequently and too hard can cause enamel wear and gum recession. With time, it can also expose the dentin and thus causes sensitivity. However, using Sensodyne sensitive toothpaste twice daily can reduce sensitivity.
How does Sensodyne work?
Sensodyne contains potassium nitrate that soothes the nerves inside your teeth. The stannous fluoride protects the teeth by building a protective layer around the teeth, creating a barrier from pain caused due to sensitivity.
Apply at least a 1-inch strip of the toothpaste onto a soft bristle toothbrush. Brush teeth thoroughly for at least 2 minutes twice a day (morning and evening), and not more than three times a day, or as recommended by the dentist. Make sure to brush all the sensitive areas of the teeth. Minimise swallowing, spit out after brushing.
