Scoff 50mg Oral Suspension is an antibiotic medicine used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections in children. Scoff 50mg Oral Suspension is an antibiotic medicine commonly given to children for the treatment of bacterial infections targeting the eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, and urinary tract. It is also part of the multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) treatment regimen.
Scoff 50mg Oral Suspension is an antibiotic that interferes with the genetic material of bacteria by implanting defects in its DNA, killing the infection-causing bacteria and preventing the infection from spreading.
What if I accidentally give my child too much Scoff 50mg Oral Suspension?
An extra dose of Scoff 50mg Oral Suspension is unlikely to cause harm. However, if you suspect your child has received an overdose, immediately consult with their doctor. Overdose may lead to unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, unconsciousness, and palpitations (irregularities of heartbeat). If you notice any of these symptoms, rush to your child's doctor for immediate attention.
What should I do if my child shows no improvement after taking Scoff 50mg Oral Suspension for the prescribed duration?
If your child does not show improvement after taking Scoff 50mg Oral Suspension for the prescribed duration, it may indicate that the medicine is not effective against the infection-causing bacteria. In this case, consult with your child's doctor, who may prescribe a different antibiotic that is more specific in action. Not all medicines are given orally; some may need to be administered intravenously (IV injection) in a hospital setting.
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Scoff 50mg Oral Suspension?
Scoff 50mg Oral Suspension may interact with other medicines or substances. Inform your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Scoff 50mg Oral Suspension. Additionally, consult with your child's doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Scoff 50mg Oral Suspension?
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause a reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not receive vaccinations until they recover from the illness. Once your child feels better, the vaccine can be administered.
What should I tell the doctor before giving Scoff 50mg Oral Suspension to my child?
Inform your child's doctor if your child has a pre-existing condition such as heart disease, genetic disorders involving blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (allergy from sunlight), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. This is because Scoff 50mg Oral Suspension may exacerbate these conditions and lead to complications.
Complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.
- Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics
- Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Scoff 50mg Oral Suspension
- Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect
- Discontinue Scoff 50mg Oral Suspension and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing
- Only give Scoff 50mg Oral Suspension to your child for their current infection
