Quinkul 50mg Oral Suspension is an antibiotic medicine used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections in children. Quinkul 50mg Oral Suspension is an antibiotic medicine commonly given to children for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections targeting the eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, abdomen and urinary tract. It is also part of the multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) treatment regimen.
Quinkul 50mg Oral Suspension is an antibiotic. It interferes with the genetic material of bacteria by implanting defects in its DNA. These defects hamper the multiplication of the bacteria and affect its survival as well. Thus, it kills the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading without making them resistant to further treatment.
What if I give too much of Quinkul 50mg Oral Suspension by mistake?
An extra dose of Quinkul 50mg Oral Suspension is unlikely to cause harm. However, if you think you have given too much to your child, immediately speak to a doctor. Overdose may cause unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, unconsciousness, and palpitations (irregularities of heartbeat). Rush to your child’s doctor on an immediate basis if you notice any of these symptoms.
What should I do if my child shows no improvement even after taking Quinkul 50mg Oral Suspension for the prescribed duration?
If your child does not show improvement after completing the full course of Quinkul 50mg Oral Suspension, it may indicate that the medicine is unable to act against the infection-causing bacteria. In such a case, visit your child’s doctor who may prescribe another antibiotic with more specific action. It's important to note that not all medications are administered orally and some might require intravenous administration (IV) in a hospital setting.
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Quinkul 50mg Oral Suspension?
It's important to discuss any other medicines your child is taking with their doctor before starting Quinkul 50mg Oral Suspension. This helps ensure there are no interactions between them and prevent adverse effects.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Quinkul 50mg Oral Suspension?
Generally, antibiotics do not interfere with vaccines or cause a negative reaction in children who have just received one. However, it's advisable to wait until your child recovers from the illness before getting them vaccinated. Once they feel better, you can administer the vaccine as usual.
What should I tell the doctor before giving Quinkul 50mg Oral Suspension to my child?
Before administering Quinkul 50mg Oral Suspension to your child, inform the doctor about any pre-existing conditions such as heart disease, genetic disorders of blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (sunlight allergy), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. These conditions may be exacerbated by the medication and could lead to complications.
Do not panic. You can give the medicine as soon as you remember unless your child's doctor has advised a specific regime for your child. In case of any confusion, do consult your doctor. Do not double the dose to catch up. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Quinkul 50mg Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine.
