Prucalax Tablet is a prescription medicine used in the treatment of constipation. It increases the release of certain chemical that improves the movement of food inside the intestine and helps to increase gastric emptying of both liquid and solid. Prucalax Tablet is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you're given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your doctor know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect or be affected by this medicine.
Prucalax Tablet is a selective 5-HT4 receptor agonist that has high intrinsic activity. It indirectly stimulates the release of acetylcholine, a chemical messenger that increases the motility of the intestine and treats even chronic (long-term) constipation very effectively.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Prucalax Tablet may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Alcohol
It is not known whether it is safe to consume alcohol with Prucalax Tablet. Please consult your doctor.
Breastfeed
Prucalax Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Pregnancy
Prucalax Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
