Procid 20mg Tablet is a medicine that reduces the amount of acid produced in your stomach. It is used in the treatment of acid-related diseases of the stomach and intestine such as heartburn, acid reflux, peptic ulcer disease, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Procid 20mg Tablet is best taken one hour before a meal, preferably in the morning. The dose will depend on your underlying condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep on taking it as prescribed even if your symptoms disappear quickly. You can increase the efficiency of the treatment by eating smaller meals more often and avoiding caffeinated drinks (like tea and coffee) and spicy or fatty foods.
Procid 20mg Tablet is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach which provides relief from symptoms of heartburn, acid reflux, peptic ulcer disease, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
Can I take Procid 20mg Tablet with domperidone?
Yes, this medicine can be safely taken with domperidone as no harmful effects have been reported clinically. The combination of these two medicines is effective in treating reflux esophagitis associated with acidity, heartburn, intestinal and stomach ulcers.
What should I know before taking Procid 20mg Tablet?
You should not take it if you are taking a medicine containing atazanavir and nelfinavir (used for HIV infection). Inform your doctor about any liver problems, persistent diarrhea or vomiting, black stools (blood-stained stools), unusual weight loss, trouble swallowing, stomach pain or indigestion. Also, let them know if you have an allergic skin reaction with this medicine.
Can Procid 20mg Tablet cause diarrhea?
Yes, it may cause diarrhea as a side effect in some people. If you experience persistent watery stools that do not go away, along with stomach cramps and fever, get medical help immediately.

Can Procid 20mg Tablet cause calcium deficiency and osteoporosis?
Yes, it can cause osteoporosis (thinning of bones) as it decreases the calcium absorption leading to calcium deficiency. This leads to an increased risk of bone fractures on long-term use, like hip, wrist or spine fractures. Inform your doctor if you have osteoporosis or if you are taking corticosteroids before starting your therapy.
What are the long term side effects of Procid 20mg Tablet?
If used for more than 3 months, certain long-term side effects may be seen. These include low magnesium levels in your blood which may make you feel tired, confused, dizzy, shaky, or dizzy. You may also have muscle twitches or irregular heartbeat. Prolonged use for over a year may increase the risk of bone fractures, stomach infections, and vitamin B12 deficiency.
Does Procid 20mg Tablet cause vitamin deficiencies?
Yes, it may cause vitamin B12 and vitamin C deficiency. Vitamin B12 requires an acidic environment for its absorption from the stomach while this medicine causes a decrease in gastric acid secretion. You may need to take vitamin B12 supplements along with it.
