Presza 50mg Tablet is an immunosuppressant used to prevent organ rejection after transplant and treat rheumatoid arthritis. Presza 50mg Tablet works by weakening the body’s immune system so it does not attack the new organ. The amount of medicine to be taken and how often you need to take it will depend on the type of transplant you have. Follow your doctor’s instructions on this. You should take it along with food. Take the medicine regularly to get the most benefit and keep taking it even if you feel well. If you stop taking it, you may increase the chances of rejecting your transplanted organ.
Presza 50mg Tablet is an immunosuppressant. It reduces the action of body's own defense system (the immune system) and prevents rejection of the transplanted organ. It also blocks the action of certain chemical messengers that are responsible for inflammation, swelling, and redness associated with certain joint diseases.
What is Presza 50mg Tablet prescribed for? How does it work?
Presza 50mg Tablet is an immunosuppressant, meaning it acts by suppressing the body's immune defense system. Your immune system protects you from infections. Sometimes, your immune system becomes overactive and can cause illness. Presza 50mg Tablet is used in combination with other medicines to treat these conditions caused by overactivity of the immune system. It helps prevent organ rejection after transplants (like kidneys, hearts, or livers). It's also used for chronic active hepatitis, severe rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, acquired hemolytic anemia, and severe cases of specified skin diseases (pemphigus vulgaris, dermatomyositis, polyarteritis nodosa, pyoderma gangrenosa). It is also used for specific skin conditions where corticosteroids cannot be safely used.
How long does Presza 50mg Tablet take to start working?

What happens if I forget to take Presza 50mg Tablet?

I have just started taking Presza 50mg Tablet. What are the long-term side effects? Is there anything I should be looking out for?
As an immunosuppressant, Presza 50mg Tablet can increase the risk of severe infections, decrease in blood cell counts (including platelet count), and even malignancy. You need to immediately inform your doctor if you notice any signs of infection (fever, chills, fatigue), unexpected bruising or bleeding, black tarry stools, or blood in urine or stools. Also, keep your doctor informed if you experience new skin sores or lumps, new marks on your skin, or any changes in existing marks.
Do I need any special tests while I am on Presza 50mg Tablet?
Presza 50mg Tablet affects the body by reducing blood cell production and increasing susceptibility to infections. This can also affect the liver. These side effects can be monitored through regular blood tests, including complete blood counts (CBC). During the first 8 weeks of treatment, your doctor may recommend weekly blood tests to monitor CBC. The frequency can later be adjusted to monthly or every 3 months.
Can Presza 50mg Tablet cause cancer?
Presza 50mg Tablet can increase the risk of certain cancers, such as skin cancer, lymphoma (lymphoma), soft tissue sarcomas, and cervical cancer. To minimize the risk of skin cancer, avoid prolonged sun exposure and wear protective clothing, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Immediately notify your doctor if you observe any changes in your skin or new lumps or masses anywhere on your body.
Can cyclosporine be taken with Presza 50mg Tablet?
Yes, Presza 50mg Tablet and cyclosporine can be taken together as they don't interfere with each other. However, you must take the two medications strictly as advised by your doctor.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Presza 50mg Tablet is to be taken with food.

Breastfeed
Presza 50mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Pregnancy
Presza 50mg Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Please consult your doctor.
