Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is essential for the survival of the bacteria. The other agent, lactobacillus, helps prevent side effects such as diarrhea by restoring the balance of healthy bacteria in your child's gut.

Antibiotics generally do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines and do not cause a negative reaction in children who have recently received vaccinations. However, children on antibiotics should not receive vaccines until they fully recover from the illness. After recovery, consult your child's doctor before administering any further medications.
In common colds, the mucus changes color and thickens over time, but it does not always indicate a need for antibiotics. Most cold symptoms resolve within 7-10 days. If they fail to clear up within that time frame, please consult your child's doctor.
No, do not give this medication to your child if they have infectious mononucleosis because a significant percentage of children diagnosed with the condition develop a skin rash while taking PD Mox LB Tablet.
