Osteofos 35 Tablet is used to prevent or treat weakening of the bones (osteoporosis), caused by menopause or use of steroids), and treat Paget's disease of the bone. Osteofos 35 Tablet is best taken without food. You should take it regularly at evenly spaced intervals as per the schedule prescribed by your doctor. Taking it at the same time every day will help you to remember to take it. Do not stop taking it until you have finished even when you feel better. It may take several days to get the full benefit of this drug. Osteofos 35 Tablet is only part of a program of treatment that may also include changes to your diet and taking calcium and vitamin supplements.
Osteofos 35 Tablet is a bisphosphonate. It works by suppressing the activity of osteoclast cells that cause destruction of bone. This strengthens the bones and minimizes the risk of fractures.
How to take Osteofos 35 Tablet?
Osteofos 35 Tablets should be taken in the morning after getting up on an empty stomach with a full glass of water. Do not lie down and stay fully upright for at least 30 minutes after swallowing the medicine. Avoid taking any food or medication for the next 30 minutes after taking this medicine. Take this medicine only after consulting the doctor and follow the instructions advised.
Why can you not lie down after taking Osteofos 35 Tablet?
Lying down immediately after taking Osteofos 35 Tablets could increase the risk of the medication returning up into the esophagus (food pipe) and potentially causing damage. Staying upright will help the medicine settle down quickly in your stomach and prevent side effects like heartburn and pain.
Does Osteofos 35 Tablet cause hair loss?
Yes, Osteofos 35 Tablet can cause hair loss. However, this is not a common side effect. If you experience hair loss while taking this medication immediately report to your doctor and follow the advice given.
Can Osteofos 35 Tablet be used in pregnant women?
Osteofos 35 Tablet should be avoided during pregnancy. There is not enough data available about its use in pregnant women. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant before taking this medication.
Does Osteofos 35 Tablet cause cancer/ hair loss/ tiredness/ increase in blood pressure?

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Osteofos 35 Tablet is to be taken empty stomach.
- Take it in the morning at least 30 minutes before eating or drinking anything.
- Maintain an upright posture for 30 minutes after taking the medication so the medicine does not irritate your food pipe.
- It may cause the amount of calcium in your blood to fall. Take calcium-rich food in your diet and have regular blood tests to monitor the level of calcium in your blood.
- It is important to look after your mouth and teeth while you are taking this medicine. Have regular dental check-ups and inform your dentist about taking Osteofos 35 Tablet.
- The most common side effects include headache, musculoskeletal (bone, muscle or joint) pain, indigestion, heartburn, and diarrhea.
Alcohol
Consuming alcohol with Osteofos 35 Tablet does not cause any harmful side effects.
Breastfeed
Osteofos 35 Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby. If you are taking Osteofos 35 Tablet during breastfeeding, monitor baby's blood calcium levels during the first two months.
Pregnancy
Osteofos 35 Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
