Omihal 20 Capsule is a medicine that reduces the amount of acid produced in your stomach, used in the treatment of acid-related diseases of the stomach and intestine such as heartburn, acid reflux, peptic ulcer disease, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Omihal 20 Capsule is best taken one hour before a meal, preferably in the morning. The dose will depend on your underlying condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep on taking it as prescribed even if your symptoms disappear quickly. You can increase the efficiency of the treatment by eating smaller meals more often and avoiding caffeinated drinks (like tea and coffee) and spicy or fatty foods.
Omihal 20 Capsule is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach which provide relief from symptoms of heartburn, acid reflux, peptic ulcer disease, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
Can I take Omihal 20 Capsule with domperidone?
Omihal 20 Capsule and domperidone can be taken together safely, as no harmful effects have been reported in clinical trials. They are often combined in fixed-dose combinations for optimal treatment of reflux esophagitis associated with acidity, heartburn, intestinal ulcers, and stomach ulcers.
What should I know before taking Omihal 20 Capsule?
Do not take it if you are already taking a medicine containing atazanavir and nelfinavir (used for HIV infection). Inform your doctor if you experience any of the following: persistent diarrhea or vomiting, black stools (blood-stained stools), unusual weight loss, trouble swallowing, stomach pain or indigestion. Ensure to disclose all other medications you are currently taking as they might interact with Omihal 20 Capsule. It is also crucial to inform your doctor about any history of allergic skin reactions you've had in relation to this medicine. This medication should not be given to children under one year old or those who weigh less than 10 kilograms.

Prolonged use (more than 3 months) may cause certain long-term side effects: Low magnesium levels in the blood which can lead to fatigue, confusion, dizziness, shakiness, and lightheadedness. You might also experience muscle twitches or irregular heartbeat. In cases of prolonged usage for over a year, you risk an increased risk of bone fractures due to decreased calcium in the blood (especially in the hip, wrist, or spine), stomach infections, and vitamin B12 deficiency. Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to anemia, which can cause fatigue, weakness, or paleness. Additionally, you might experience palpitations, shortness of breath, lightheadedness, indigestion, loss of appetite, flatulence (gas), and nerve problems like numbness, tingling, and difficulty walking.
Does Omihal 20 Capsule cause vitamin deficiencies?
It can lead to vitamin B12 deficiency as it affects stomach acid levels, impacting absorption of B12. This might require B12 supplements. However, the clinical significance of vitamin C depletion is not yet fully understood and does not warrant immediate supplementation.

- Avoid eating late at night or before bedtime.
- Inform your doctor if you get watery diarrhea, fever or stomach pain that does not go away.
- Inform your doctor if you do not feel better after taking it for 14 days as you may be suffering from some other problem that needs attention.
- Long-term use of Omihal 20 Capsule can cause weak bones and a deficiency of minerals such as magnesium. Take adequate dietary intake of calcium and magnesium or their supplements as prescribed by your doctor.
- Do not stop taking medication without talking to your doctor.
- Consult your doctor right away if you develop decreased urination, edema (swelling due to fluid retention), lower back pain, nausea, fatigue, and rash or fever. These could be signs of a kidney problem.
Alcohol
