Omag 20mg Tablet is a medicine that reduces the amount of acid produced in your stomach. It is used in the treatment of acid-related diseases of the stomach and intestine such as heartburn, acid reflux, peptic ulcer disease, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Omag 20mg Tablet is best taken one hour before a meal, preferably in the morning. The dose will depend on your underlying condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep on taking it as prescribed even if your symptoms disappear quickly. You can increase the efficiency of the treatment by eating smaller meals more often and avoiding caffeinated drinks (like tea and coffee) and spicy or fatty foods.
Omag 20mg Tablet is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach which provide relief from symptoms of heartburn, acid reflux, peptic ulcer disease, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
Can I take Omag 20mg Tablet with domperidone?
Yes, Omag 20mg Tablet can be safely taken with domperidone as no harmful effects have been reported clinically. In fact, the combination of these two medicines is effective in treating reflux esophagitis associated with acidity, heartburn, intestinal, and stomach ulcers.
What should I know before taking Omag 20mg Tablet?
Before taking Omag 20mg Tablet, inform your doctor if you are taking a medicine containing atazanavir and nelfinavir, or if you have liver problems, persistent diarrhea or vomiting, black stools, unusual weight loss, trouble swallowing, stomach pain, or indigestion. Also, tell your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, as they may affect or be affected by this medicine. Additionally, inform your doctor if you have or have had an allergic skin reaction to this medicine. This medicine is not recommended for children under 1 year of age or those weighing less than 10 kgs. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult their doctor before taking this medicine to avoid any potential harm to the baby.

This increases the risk of bone fractures, such as hip, wrist, or spine fractures, on long-term use. Inform your doctor if you have osteoporosis or are taking corticosteroids, which can increase the risk of osteoporosis, before starting your therapy. Your doctor may recommend calcium or vitamin D supplements to reduce the risk.
What are the long-term side effects of Omag 20mg Tablet?
If used for more than 3 months, certain long-term side effects may occur. These include low magnesium levels in the blood, which can cause fatigue, confusion, dizziness, shakiness, or irregular heartbeat. Prolonged use for more than a year may increase the risk of bone fractures, stomach infections, and vitamin B12 deficiency. Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to anemia, causing fatigue, weakness, or paleness. You may also experience palpitations, shortness of breath, lightheadedness, indigestion, loss of appetite, flatulence, or nerve problems such as numbness, tingling, or difficulty walking.
Does Omag 20mg Tablet cause vitamin deficiencies?
Omag 20mg Tablet may cause vitamin B12 and vitamin C deficiency. Vitamin B12 requires an acidic environment for absorption from the stomach, which is decreased by this medicine. You may need to take vitamin B12 supplements. The clinical significance of decreased vitamin C levels is unknown, so vitamin C supplementation is not recommended.
Can Omag 20mg Tablet be used in cardiac patients?
Patients with cardiac disease can take Omag 20mg Tablet as prescribed by their doctor. However, it can interact with certain drugs, such as clopidogrel and digoxin, which may be used by patients with underlying cardiac disease. Patients taking these medicines together should be closely monitored by a doctor.

- Avoid excessive intake of carbonated beverages/soft drinks

- Avoid alcohol and smoking.
- Avoid eating late at night or before bedtime.
- Inform your doctor if you get watery diarrhea, fever or stomach pain that does not go away.
- Inform your doctor if you do not feel better after taking it for 14 days as you may be suffering from some other problem that needs attention.
- Long-term use of Omag 20mg Tablet can cause weak bones and a deficiency of minerals such as magnesium. Take adequate dietary intake of calcium and magnesium or their supplements as prescribed by your doctor.
- Do not stop taking medication without talking to your doctor.
- Consult your doctor right away if you develop decreased urination, edema (swelling due to fluid retention), lower back pain, nausea, fatigue, and rash or fever. These could be signs of a kidney problem.
Alcohol
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Omag 20mg Tablet.
Breastfeed
Omag 20mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Pregnancy
Omag 20mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
