Ofloryl 50mg Syrup is an antibiotic medicine used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections in children. Ofloryl 50mg Syrup is an antibiotic medicine commonly given to children for the treatment of bacterial infections targeting the eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, abdomen, and urinary tract. It is also part of the multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) treatment regimen.
Ofloryl 50mg Syrup is an antibiotic that interferes with the genetic material of bacteria by implanting defects in its DNA. It kills the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading without making them resistant to further treatment.
What if I accidentally give my child too much Ofloryl 50mg Syrup?
An extra dose of Ofloryl 50mg Syrup is unlikely to cause harm. However, if you suspect your child has received an overdose, immediately consult with their doctor. Overdose may lead to unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, unconsciousness, and palpitations (irregularities of heartbeat). If you notice any of these symptoms, seek immediate medical attention from your child's doctor.
What should I do if my child shows no improvement after taking Ofloryl 50mg Syrup for the prescribed duration?
If your child does not show improvement after taking Ofloryl 50mg Syrup for the prescribed duration, it may indicate that the medicine is not effective against the infection-causing bacteria. In this case, consult with your child's doctor, who may prescribe an alternative antibiotic that is more effective. Not all medicines are given orally; some may require intravenous administration in a hospital setting.
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Ofloryl 50mg Syrup?
Ofloryl 50mg Syrup may interact with other medicines or substances. Inform your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Ofloryl 50mg Syrup. Additionally, consult with your child's doctor before giving your child any other medication.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Ofloryl 50mg Syrup?
Antibiotics typically do not interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not receive vaccinations until they have recovered from their illness. Once your child feels better, the vaccine can be administered.
What should I tell the doctor before giving Ofloryl 50mg Syrup to my child?
Inform your child's doctor if your child has a pre-existing condition such as heart disease, genetic disorders involving blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy, neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. This is because Ofloryl 50mg Syrup may exacerbate these conditions and lead to complications.
Do not panic. You can give the medicine as soon as you remember unless your child's doctor has advised a specific regime for your child. In case of any confusion, do consult your doctor. Do not double the dose to catch up.
