Normatone Syrup is a combination medicine used to treat loss of appetite. It is an effective appetite stimulant. Normatone Syrup is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect or be affected by this medicine.
Normatone Syrup is a combination of three medicines: Cyproheptadine, tricholine citrate and sorbitol. Cyproheptadine is an appetite-stimulant. It works by reducing the effect of a chemical messenger (serotonin) in the hypothalamus a part of the brain which regulates appetite. Tricholine citrate is a bile acid binding agent which removes bile acids from the body. The liver then produces more bile acids using cholesterol as a result of which cholesterol level is lowered. Sorbitol acts as a syrup base and also as an osmotic laxative to relieve constipation.
Does Normatone Syrup cause dry mouth?
Yes, using Normatone Syrup may lead to dry mouth. If you experience dryness in your mouth, drink plenty of water. Take regular sips throughout the day and keep a glass of water by your bed at night. You can apply lip balm if your lips become dry as well.
Does Normatone Syrup cause dizziness?
Yes, some patients may experience dizziness (feeling faint, weak, unsteady, or lightheaded) after using Normatone Syrup. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded, it is best to rest for a while and resume your activities only when you feel better. Do not drive or operate machinery until you are feeling fully recovered.
How should Normatone Syrup be stored?
Store the medicine in its original container, tightly closed. Keep it according to the instructions on the package or label. Do not use the medicine if it has expired and dispose of any unused medication properly. Make sure this medicine is kept out of reach of pets, children, and other people.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Normatone Syrup may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
