Nitrolong 2.6 Tablet CR is used to treat and prevent heart-related chest pain (angina). It works by relaxing and widening blood vessels so blood can flow more easily to the heart. Nitrolong 2.6 Tablet CR should be taken in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. It may be taken with or without food, preferably at a fixed time each day. Do not consume more than the recommended dose as this may have harmful effects on your body. You can develop tolerance to this medicine over time, which means that the same dose becomes less effective. You have to stick to a really specific dosing schedule to prevent this from happening. The most common side effect of this medicine is a headache which may be severe. This can sometimes be helped by drinking plenty of fluids and avoiding alcohol. You may also experience lightheadedness which could increase your risk of having a fall. There are other rarer side effects, some of them serious. Ask your doctor and read the leaflet which comes with the medicine to make sure you are keeping safe.

No, you should not take sildenafil if you are taking Nitrolong 2.6 Tablet CR. Combining these two medications can lead to a dangerous drop in blood pressure that could be life-threatening.
What effect does Nitrolong 2.6 Tablet CR have on blood pressure?
Nitrolong 2.6 Tablet CR lowers blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels, but it is not suitable for treating high blood pressure. This decrease in blood pressure may cause lightheadedness, especially when changing positions suddenly.

Abruptly stopping Nitrolong 2.6 Tablet CR can trigger angina attacks, especially if you've been using it for several weeks or longer. Consult your doctor to gradually reduce the dose over a period of 4 to 6 weeks before discontinuing.
Does Nitrolong 2.6 Tablet CR prevent heart attacks?
Nitrolong 2.6 Tablet CR is prescribed for patients with coronary artery disease, to prevent angina (chest pain) caused by reduced blood flow to the heart. It does this by relaxing narrowed coronary arteries, allowing the heart to receive adequate oxygen.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Nitrolong 2.6 Tablet CR may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
- Nitrolong 2.6 Tablet CR may cause dizziness or sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything that requires concentration until you know how it affects you.
- Do not consume alcohol while taking Nitrolong 2.6 Tablet CR as it may cause increased dizziness.
- You may develop tolerance to Nitrolong 2.6 Tablet CR with time meaning that the same dose may be less effective next time. Follow the prescribed dosing schedule to avoid this.
- Stop taking medications (prescribed for erectile dysfunction) like sildenafil or tadalafil while on treatment with Nitrolong 2.6 Tablet CR as it may cause low blood pressure.

Alcohol
Consuming alcohol while taking Nitrolong 2.6 Tablet CR may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heart beat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure (Disulfiram reaction).
Breastfeed
Nitrolong 2.6 Tablet CR is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Pregnancy
Nitrolong 2.6 Tablet CR is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.
