Mycoral-M Tablet is an immunosuppressant used to prevent organ rejection after a transplant, such as kidney, heart, or liver. Mycoral-M Tablet belongs to a group of medicines called immunosuppressants. It is used with other medicines to prevent your body from rejecting an organ (such as a kidney, heart, or liver) after a transplant. It works by suppressing your body's immune system so that it does not attack the new organ.
Mycoral-M Tablet is an immunosuppressant. It reduces the action of the body's own defense system (the immune system) and prevents rejection of the transplanted organ.
Can Mycoral-M Tablet cause cancer?
Mycoral-M Tablet may increase your chances of certain cancers, such as skin cancer and lymphoma (cancer of the lymph system). It's important to avoid unnecessary or prolonged exposure to sunlight when outdoors. Wear protective clothing and apply sunscreen. Contact your doctor if you experience a new skin sore or bump, a change in the size or color of a mole, a brown or black skin lesion (sore) with uneven edges or one part that does not look like the other, skin changes, sores that do not heal. Inform your doctor about any unexplained fever, fatigue that doesn't subside, unexplained weight loss, or pain or swelling in your neck, groin, or armpits.
Why has my doctor given me Mycoral-M Tablet after I have had a kidney transplant?
Mycoral-M Tablet is an immunosuppressant medication. It helps your body accept the donor's kidney by suppressing your immune system. This allows for better organ compatibility and reduces the risk of rejection.
Is Mycoral-M Tablet a steroid or chemotherapy medicine? Can it cause hair loss?
Mycoral-M Tablet is neither a steroid nor a chemotherapy medication. It's an immunosuppressant that acts on your immune system to suppress or weaken it, preventing the body from rejecting the transplanted kidney from another person. Hair loss is a common side effect of Mycoral-M Tablet.
Do I need any special tests while taking Mycoral-M Tablet?
Mycoral-M Tablet may impact blood count and affect your kidneys and liver, so before starting the treatment, your doctor will recommend a blood test. During treatment, regular blood tests will be done to monitor changes in your blood and assess for any side effects.
My doctor has asked me to stay away from a person who has chickenpox or shingles. Why?
Mycoral-M Tablet suppresses the immune system, so if you come into contact with someone who has chickenpox or shingles, you might develop it as well. This is why your doctor advised you to be cautious.
What precautions should a female follow while taking Mycoral-M Tablet?
Do not take Mycoral-M Tablet if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy. There is a high risk of miscarriage during the first 3 months of pregnancy, and it may even lead to birth defects in newborns. Therefore, use two forms of reliable birth control (like pills) together for at least 4 weeks before starting treatment, during treatment, and for 6 weeks after you stop taking Mycoral-M Tablet. Your doctor will recommend the best birth control methods that suit you.
What precautions should a male follow while taking Mycoral-M Tablet?
It is recommended to use reliable contraception for both the man and his partner during treatment and for 90 days after. Men should also avoid donating semen during therapy or for 90 days after discontinuing Mycoral-M Tablet.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Mycoral-M Tablet is to be taken with food.
- Your doctor has prescribed Mycoral-M Tablet to stop your body from rejecting a transplanted organ (e.g. kidney, heart or liver).
- It may take 6 to 12 weeks for Mycoral-M Tablet to start working. Keep taking it as prescribed.
- It may cause birth defects so birth control is required in females with reproductive potential.
- It makes you more susceptible to getting infections. Avoid contact with people who have an infection.
- Protect yourself from direct sunlight by wearing protective clothing and applying a sunscreen with a high sun protection factor (SPF).
Alcohol
Consuming alcohol with Mycoral-M Tablet does not cause any harmful side effects.
Breastfeed
Mycoral-M Tablet is unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Data suggests that the drug may cause toxicity to the baby.
Pregnancy
Mycoral-M Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Please consult your doctor.
