Monobid 20mg Tablet is used to prevent heart-related chest pain (angina). Monobid 20mg Tablet is used to prevent heart-related chest pain (angina). It works by relaxing and widening blood vessels so blood can flow more easily to the heart. This medicine will not treat an angina attack that has already begun.
Monobid 20mg Tablet is a nitrate. It dilates peripheral arteries and veins. Dilation of the veins promotes peripheral pooling of blood and decreases venous return to the heart, thereby reducing workload of heart. As a result, the heart muscle does not need as much blood and oxygen supply.
Does Monobid 20mg Tablet affect the heart rate?
Yes, Monobid 20mg Tablet may decrease blood pressure, which can further cause a decrease in heart rate (bradycardia). In some cases, it may also increase heart rate (tachycardia). If you experience any change in your heart rate or do not feel well after taking this medicine, consult your doctor.
What if I forget to take a dose of Monobid 20mg Tablet?
If you remember the missed dose within 12 hours, you can take it. However, if you remember it after 12 hours, skip the missed dose and continue with your next scheduled dose.
Can I stop taking Monobid 20mg Tablet after some time?
No, do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor. Stopping it suddenly may increase your chances of having an anginal attack.
What are the symptoms of an overdose of Monobid 20mg Tablet?
Taking more than the recommended dose of Monobid 20mg Tablet may cause a throbbing headache, reddening of the skin, chills, sweating, nausea, vomiting, and a fast heartbeat. Seek emergency help and consult your doctor immediately if you take an overdose.
Can Monobid 20mg Tablet be taken at night?
Your doctor may recommend taking this medicine once or twice daily, depending on the dose. If a single dose is recommended, it's best to take it in the morning. If taking it twice a day, maintain a gap of 7 hours between the two doses to avoid tolerance.
Does Monobid 20mg Tablet lower blood pressure?
Yes, Monobid 20mg Tablet can cause a fall in blood pressure. This medicine widens blood vessels and decreases resistance, leading to a drop in blood pressure, which may decrease heart rate and lead to angina.
Can I take sildenafil while taking Monobid 20mg Tablet?
No, you should not take sildenafil along with Monobid 20mg Tablet. Both medicines lower blood pressure and belong to the same class. Taking them together may cause a severe decrease in blood pressure, fainting, and even a heart attack. Avoid other similar medications like vardenafil and tadalafil as well.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Monobid 20mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Alcohol
Consuming alcohol while taking Monobid 20mg Tablet may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heart beat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure (Disulfiram reaction).
