Monit 20 Tablet is used to prevent heart-related chest pain (angina). Monit 20 Tablet may be taken with or without food. Your doctor will decide the dose and how often you should take them. This may change from time to time depending on how well they are working. You should take this medicine as it has been prescribed and keep taking it even if you feel well. This medicine helps to prevent chest pain in the future. If you stop taking it, your risk of chest pain will increase, especially if you stop taking them suddenly. Lifestyle changes such as diet, exercise, and not smoking may help this medication work better.
Monit 20 Tablet is a nitrate. It dilates peripheral arteries and veins. Dilation of the veins promotes peripheral pooling of blood and decreases venous return to the heart thereby reducing workload of heart. As a result, the heart muscle does not need as much blood and oxygen supply.
Does Monit 20 Tablet affect heart rate?
Monit 20 Tablet may impact your heart rate by causing it to decrease (bradycardia) or increase (tachycardia). If you experience a change in your heart rate, consult your doctor.
What if I forget to take a dose of Monit 20 Tablet?
If you miss a dose, take the forgotten tablet within 12 hours. If more than 12 hours have passed, skip the missed dose and continue with the next scheduled dose.
Can I stop taking Monit 20 Tablet after sometime?
Do not stop taking Monit 20 Tablet without consulting your doctor. Suddenly stopping this medicine may increase the risk of anginal attacks.
What are the symptoms of an overdose of Monit 20 Tablet?
Overdosing on Monit 20 Tablet can lead to severe symptoms, including throbbing headache, reddening skin, chills and sweating, nausea, vomiting, and a fast heartbeat. Seek emergency medical attention if you take more than the recommended dose.
Can Monit 20 Tablet be taken at night?
Your doctor may recommend taking Monit 20 Tablet once or twice daily. If a single dose is prescribed, it's usually best to take it in the morning. When taking two doses, maintain a gap of 7 hours between them to minimize tolerance.
Does Monit 20 Tablet lower BP?
Yes, Monit 20 Tablet can cause a decrease in blood pressure by widening blood vessels and reducing resistance. This may lead to angina due to decreased heart rate. People with low blood pressure should discuss this with their doctor.
Can I take sildenafil while taking Monit 20 Tablet?
No, you should not take sildenafil along with Monit 20 Tablet as both lower blood pressure and belong to the same class. Taking them together may cause a severe decrease in blood pressure, fainting, and heart attack. Also avoid other similar medications like vardenafil and tadalafil.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Monit 20 Tablet may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Alcohol
Consuming alcohol while taking Monit 20 Tablet may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heart beat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure (Disulfiram reaction).
