Mexazol Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that is effective against a wide range of bacterial and parasitic infections. It is used to treat infections of the teeth, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, and genital tract in children. Mexazol Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that is effective against a wide range of bacterial and parasitic infections. Give Mexazol Syrup to your child orally, preferably at a fixed time, either before or after food. In case your child develops a stomach upset, prefer giving it with food. The usually prescribed frequency is twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening.
Mexazol Syrup is an antibiotic having ofloxacin and metronidazole as its active ingredients. Both these medicines damage the DNA of the infection-causing bacteria, thus killing it by stopping its growth. This prevents the infection from spreading without making the bacteria resistant to further treatment.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Mexazol Syrup may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
- If your child develops diarrhea as a side effect, encourage them to drink plenty of water.
- Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help if Mexazol Syrup causes an altered taste.
- Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid to your child within 2 hours of taking Mexazol Syrup as these can affect the absorption of the medicine.
- Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions.
- Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
- Discontinue Mexazol Syrup and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing.
- Never save the medicine for future illnesses since its effectiveness in future infections cannot be guaranteed.

Alcohol
Consuming alcohol while taking Mexazol Syrup may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heart beat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure (Disulfiram reaction).
Breastfeed
Mexazol Syrup is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Pregnancy
Mexazol Syrup may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
