It is effective against infections of the throat, ear, nasal sinuses, respiratory tract (e.g., pneumonia), urinary tract, skin and soft tissue, and typhoid fever. The medication works by preventing bacteria from forming their protective cell wall, which is essential for their survival. While generally safe, it is important to complete the prescribed course to prevent the infection from returning and becoming harder to treat. Common side effects may include diarrhea, and in rare cases, allergic reactions such as itchy rash, swelling of the face, throat, or tongue, and breathing difficulties.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush, or break it. Metaxa 500mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Talk to your doctor if you notice bloody stools or develop abdominal cramps. Stop taking this medicine and inform your doctor immediately if you develop an itchy rash, swelling of the face, throat, or tongue, or breathing difficulties while taking it.
