Mesagran OD Tablet PR is an anti-inflammatory medicine used to treat a type of bowel disease known as ulcerative colitis. Mesagran OD Tablet PR may also be used to treat another type of bowel disease known as Crohn’s ileocolitis. It should be taken with food. The dose will depend on what you are being treated for but take it exactly as your doctor prescribes. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen.
Mesagran OD Tablet PR is an aminosalicylate. It works by suppressing the production of chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that cause inflammation (swelling) in the intestines. This reduces ulceration, bleeding and stomach pain and prevents future flare-ups of the disease.

Continue to take Mesagran OD Tablet PR as advised by the doctor, even if you feel better at the beginning of your treatment. Do not stop taking Mesagran OD Tablet PR without consulting your doctor.
Can I drink alcohol while taking Mesagran OD Tablet PR?
You should avoid alcohol if you have ulcerative colitis, as alcohol will irritate your stomach and intestine which will worsen your condition. Although alcohol does not interfere with the working of Mesagran OD Tablet PR, you should consult your doctor before taking alcohol.
Does Mesagran OD Tablet PR cause joint pain?
Yes, Mesagran OD Tablet PR may cause joint pain. If the pain continues and bothers you inform your doctor.
When is the best time to take Mesagran OD Tablet PR?
Take Mesagran OD Tablet PR exactly as directed by your doctor.
Use it as advised by your doctor or check the label for directions before use. Mesagran OD Tablet PR may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
- You have been prescribed Mesagran OD Tablet PR for treating and lowering the symptoms of mild inflammatory bowel disease such as ulcerative colitis.
- Your doctor may monitor your kidney and liver functions before you start treatment with this medicine and regularly thereafter. Inform your doctor if you have severely decreased kidney or liver function.
- Do not take Mesagran OD Tablet PR if you are allergic to aspirin or if you have blood disorders.
- Do not stop taking the medication suddenly without talking to your doctor.

Breastfeed
Mesagran OD Tablet PR is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby. If you are taking Mesagran OD Tablet PR, monitor the baby for diarrhea.
Pregnancy
Mesagran OD Tablet PR may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
