Mediflox S Syrup is a medication used to treat bacterial infections in children, including those affecting the teeth, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, and genital tract. Mediflox S Syrup is a combination of three active ingredients: ofloxacin, metronidazole, and simethicone. It is used to treat bacterial infections in children, including those affecting the teeth, lungs, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, and genital tract. This medicine is also given as an empirical antibiotic for infected diarrhea mixed with blood and serious infections like peritonitis.
Mediflox S Syrup is a combination of three active ingredients. The antibiotic ingredients, ofloxacin and metronidazole, interfere with the genetic material of bacteria by impairing its DNA, killing the infection-causing bacteria and preventing its growth and stopping the infection. Simethicone, the gas-absorbing agent, binds with the gas bubbles produced as a result of the other two ingredients or as a result of some other problem, aiding in the removal of gases and providing relief in stomach pain and bloating.
Mediflox S Syrup is given to children for the treatment of bacterial infections. It is important to follow the dosage instructions provided by the doctor and to complete the full course of treatment.
- Diarrhea is a common side effect of this medicine. If it occurs, make sure your child drinks plenty of water.
- Your child may have an altered taste or furry tongue (coating of Mediflox S Syrup on tongue) after taking Mediflox S Syrup. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help.
- Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Mediflox S Syrup as these can affect the absorption of the medicine.
- Never use this medicine for the common cold and flu as they are caused by viruses and Mediflox S Syrup treats only bacterial infections.
- Discontinue Mediflox S Syrup and inform the doctor immediately if your child develops a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or has difficulty in breathing.
