Mecostay-G Tablet is a combination medicine used for the treatment of neuropathic pain. Mecostay-G Tablet is taken by mouth with or without food, preferably at bedtime. It is advised to take medicine at the same time each day as this helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body. Take this medicine in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. Finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. It is important that this medication is not stopped suddenly without talking to the doctor.
Mecostay-G Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Gabapentin and Methylcobalamin. Gabapentin is an alpha 2 delta ligand which decreases pain by modulating calcium channel activity of the nerve cells. Methylcobalamin is a form of vitamin B which helps in the production of myelin, a substance that protects nerve fibers and rejuvenates damaged nerve cells. Together, they relieve neuropathic pain (pain from damaged nerves).
What is Mecostay-G Tablet?
Mecostay-G Tablet contains Gabapentin and Methylcobalamin, which are used to treat pain caused by nerve damage (peripheral neuropathy). It works by helping to regenerate damaged nerves and reduce pain sensations.
What is peripheral neuropathy?
Peripheral nerves in your toes or fingertips are called peripheral nerves. When these nerves are damaged, it's called peripheral neuropathy. These nerves carry messages from your brain and spinal cord to the rest of your body. Damaged nerves disrupt this communication process.
Can I stop taking Mecostay-G Tablet when my pain is relieved?
No, continue taking Mecostay-G Tablet for the full prescribed time. Your symptoms may improve before complete nerve regeneration and healing occur.
Can Mecostay-G Tablet cause sleepiness?
Yes, one of the most common side effects is increased drowsiness. Do not drive, operate heavy machinery, or engage in other tasks that require your full attention when taking this medication. Avoid alcohol consumption while using this medicine as it can significantly worsen sleepiness and increase the risk of falls or accidents.
