Mclan 30mg Capsule is a medicine that reduces the amount of acid produced in your stomach. It is used for treating acid-related diseases of the stomach and intestine such as acid reflux, peptic ulcer disease, and some other stomach conditions associated with excessive acid production. Mclan 30mg Capsule is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach which helps in relief of acid related indigestion and heartburn. It is also used to prevent stomach ulcers and acidity that may be seen with the prolonged use of painkillers. This medicine should be taken one hour before a meal, preferably in the morning. The dose will depend on your underlying condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep on taking it as prescribed even if your symptoms disappear quickly. You can increase the efficiency of the treatment by eating smaller meals more often and avoiding caffeinated drinks (like tea and coffee) and spicy or fatty foods.

What is Mclan 30mg Capsule? What is it used for?
Mclan 30mg Capsule belongs to a class of medicines known as proton pump inhibitors. It is used for the treatment of peptic ulcer disease (gastric and duodenal ulcers), reflux esophagitis or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It is also used to treat a disease associated with excessive acid production in the stomach known as Zollinger Ellison syndrome (ZES). It works by reducing the amount of acid made by your stomach.
How is Mclan 30mg Capsule given through the nasogastric tube?
Your doctor or nurse will show you the correct way of giving Mclan 30mg Capsule through the nasogastric (NG) tube. Open the Mclan 30mg Capsule capsule and empty the granules into a syringe. Mix the contents with apple juice in the syringe and attach it to the NG tube and give directly into the stomach. After administration, flush the NG tube with more apple juice to clear the tube.
Should Mclan 30mg Capsule be taken empty stomach or with food?
Usually, Mclan 30mg Capsule is taken once a day, first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach. If you take Mclan 30mg Capsule twice a day, take 1 dose in the morning and 1 dose in the evening. The tablets should be swallowed whole (remember not to chew or crush) and taken at least 1 hour before a meal with some water.
While taking Mclan 30mg Capsule, which foods should be avoided?
You should preferably avoid foods that cause acidity and heartburn as they will only worsen your condition. For example, avoid: fried or spicy food, butter, oil, and juices, caffeinated drinks like cola or tea, drinks from citrus fruits like lemon water or orange juice, and alcohol.
Is Mclan 30mg Capsule used for children?
Yes, Mclan 30mg Capsule is used in the management of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and erosive gastritis in children. However, the safety and effectiveness of Mclan 30mg Capsule are established only in children between 1 to 17 years of age.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Mclan 30mg Capsule is to be taken empty stomach.
- Avoid excessive intake of carbonated beverages/soft drinks
- Avoid citrus juices
- Avoid fried food
- Avoid caffeinated beverages like tea and coffee
- Avoid alcohol and smoking
- Avoid eating late at night or before bedtime
- Inform your doctor if you get watery diarrhea, fever or stomach pain that does not go away
- Inform your doctor if you do not feel better after taking it for 14 days
- Long-term use of Mclan 30mg Capsule can cause weak bones and a deficiency of minerals such as magnesium. Take adequate dietary intake of calcium and magnesium or their supplements as prescribed by your doctor.
- Consult your doctor right away if you develop decreased urination, edema (swelling due to fluid retention), lower back pain, nausea, fatigue, and rash or fever. These could be signs of a kidney problem.

Breastfeed
Mclan 30mg Capsule is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Pregnancy
Mclan 30mg Capsule is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.
