What is Lubrigel Ocular Lubricant?
Lubrigel Ocular Lubricant is a medicine, classified as an eye lubricant (artificial tears), available as eye drops. It's used to relieve irritation, burning, and discomfort associated with dry eyes. Dry eyes can be caused by factors such as insufficient tear production, infrequent blinking, exposure to smoke or wind, prolonged use of computers or television screens, medical treatment, or dry atmospheric conditions.
Is Lubrigel Ocular Lubricant effective?
Lubrigel Ocular Lubricant is effective when used as prescribed by your doctor. It's important to continue using the medicine even if you see improvement, to prevent symptoms from returning or worsening. Stop using the medication only after consulting your doctor.
How should Lubrigel Ocular Lubricant be used?
If using it for dry eyes: Instill 1 or 2 drops into the affected eye(s) as needed. If lubricating soft and rigid gas-permeable lenses, apply 1 to 2 drops to each eye with the lenses on, as directed by your doctor or after consulting your doctor.
In which conditions should Lubrigel Ocular Lubricant not be used?
Lubrigel Ocular Lubricant should not be used if you are allergic to Lubrigel Ocular Lubricant or any of its ingredients. Before use, check for allergies or consult your doctor if using this medicine for the first time.
What are the side effects of Lubrigel Ocular Lubricant?
You may experience temporary visual disturbances and eye discharge while using Lubrigel Ocular Lubricant. Other possible side effects include redness in the eyes, irritation, burning, discomfort, eyelid swelling, and itching of the eyes. If these side effects occur, contact your doctor for further advice.
How should Lubrigel Ocular Lubricant be stored?
Store at or below 25°C and keep out of reach of children. Do not touch the tip of the container to any surface, replace the cap after every use. Remember not to use eye drops after the expiry date or 30 days after opening it.
This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Hold the tube close to the eye without touching it. Gently squeeze the tube and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid.
- Your doctor has prescribed Lubrigel Ocular Lubricant to treat dry eye disease.
- Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute immediately after instilling the drop.
- Wait for at least 5-10 minutes before delivering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution of this medicine.
- Stinging sensation may occur for 1-2 minutes. Notify your doctor if it persists for longer.
- Make sure to use within 4 weeks of opening the bottle.
