Lendomy 5mg Capsule belongs to a group of medicines that affect how your immune system works. It is used in the treatment of multiple myeloma and myelodysplastic syndrome. Lendomy 5mg Capsule can be taken with or without food, but try to have it at the same time every day to get the most benefits. Your doctor will decide what dose is necessary and how often you need to take it. This will depend on what you are being treated for and may change from time to time. You should take it exactly as your doctor has advised. Taking it in the wrong way or taking too much can cause very serious side effects. It may take several weeks or months for you to see or feel the benefits but do not stop taking it unless your doctor tells you to.
Lendomy 5mg Capsule is an anti-cancer medication. It works by enhancing the immune system that indirectly attacks the cancer cells. It prevents the growth of new blood vessels within the tumor. It also restricts the production of chemical messengers (cytokine and growth factor) which are responsible for the growth of cancer cells. This is how it works against cancer.
Can I take Lendomy 5mg Capsule empty stomach?
Lendomy 5mg Capsule can be taken with or without food. Always take it exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not crush, cut, or chew the capsules. Swallow it whole with water. You should take Lendomy 5mg Capsule at about the same time on the scheduled days.
Can Lendomy 5mg Capsule be given to patients who are on dialysis?
Yes, Lendomy 5mg Capsule is administered to dialysis patients after the dialysis session. However, the doctor may adjust the dose based on individual patient factors and conditions.
What are the side effects of Lendomy 5mg Capsule?
Potential side effects of Lendomy 5mg Capsule include diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain, loss of appetite, weight loss, weakness, dizziness, altered taste sensation (taste changes), and burning or tingling in the mouth, tongue, or throat. The medicine may also cause decreased sense of touch, burning or tingling in the hands or feet, difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, depression, and joint, muscle, bone, or back pain. You may also experience sweating, dry skin, abnormal hair growth in women, uncontrollable shaking of a body part, decreased sexual desire or ability, or painful, frequent, or urgent urination. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away.
Can Lendomy 5mg Capsule cause cancer?
Individuals with multiple myeloma (a type of blood cancer that begins in plasma cells, a specific kind of white blood cell) who receive melphalan (chemotherapy), and a blood stem cell transplant alongside Lendomy 5mg Capsule are at an increased risk of developing new cancers. These potential cancers include certain types of blood cancers (acute myelogenous leukemia or AML) and Hodgkin lymphoma. Consult your doctor for information about your specific cancer risk if you're taking Lendomy 5mg Capsule.
Do I need to get any blood tests done while on Lendomy 5mg Capsule?
Your doctor will request a pre-treatment blood test before starting treatment and then weekly for the first eight weeks. You may require regular blood testing even after treatment ends, likely at least monthly. Frequent blood tests are necessary because Lendomy 5mg Capsule can decrease white blood cell (fighting infection) and platelet (blood clotting) levels.
Do I need to use birth control methods while using Lendomy 5mg Capsule?
Women who could become pregnant must use two acceptable forms of birth control for four weeks before they begin taking Lendomy 5mg Capsule. Continue using contraceptives during your treatment, including the times your doctor tells you to temporarily stop taking Lendomy 5mg Capsule, and for four weeks after your final dose. Men may have Lendomy 5mg Capsule pass into their semen while on treatment. Therefore, men must always use a latex condom every time they engage in sexual contact.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Lendomy 5mg Capsule may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Alcohol
It is not known whether it is safe to consume alcohol with Lendomy 5mg Capsule. Please consult your doctor.
Breastfeed
Lendomy 5mg Capsule is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Pregnancy
Lendomy 5mg Capsule is highly unsafe to use during pregnancy. Seek your doctor's advice as studies on pregnant women and animals have shown significant harmful effects to the developing baby.
