Lacort Eye Ointment is a medicine used to treat bacterial eye infections, killing and preventing the growth of infection-causing bacteria in the eyes, relieving symptoms and speeding up the healing process. Lacort Eye Ointment is to be used only in the affected eye. Read the label carefully for instruction before you use the medicine. Use it in the exact dose and duration as advised by the doctor or as instructed in the label. Wash your hands before using this medicine. Do not use too much or too little. Complete your dose and do not stop using the medicine even if you feel better until the doctor says it is alright to stop. Use of this medicine may cause burning sensation, stinging, and irritation at the application site. These are usually temporary and resolve with time. However, if they persist or get worse, inform your doctor. In case of accidental contact with your ears, nose, or mouth, immediately rinse it with water. Inform your doctor if you have a known allergy to any of the ingredients in this medicine or if you are taking any other medication. It is advised not to drive or operate heavy machinery immediately after using this medicine as it may cause temporary blurring of vision and may affect your ability to drive.
Lacort Eye Ointment is a combination of two medicines: Chloramphenicol and Hydrocortisone. Chloramphenicol is an antibiotic which stops bacterial growth by inhibiting synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. Hydrocortisone is a steroid medicine. It blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that cause redness, swelling, and itching after an allergy or infection.

Lacort Eye Ointment usually starts working soon after application, but it may take several days to fully eliminate harmful bacteria and achieve complete relief from symptoms.
Can I stop using Lacort Eye Ointment when I feel better?
No, do not discontinue using Lacort Eye Ointment before completing the full course of treatment as prescribed. Even if you experience symptom improvement, continue to use the medication until your doctor instructs otherwise.
This medicine is for external use only. Take it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Hold the tube close to the eye without touching it. Gently squeeze the tube and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid.
