It is generally given along with other heart failure medications.
Hftril 50 Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Sacubitril and Valsartan which belong to a class of angiotensin receptor neprilysin inhibitor (ARNI). This combination treats heart failure by relaxing the blood vessels and making it easier for your heart to pump blood throughout your body. In addition, it also helps your body retain less water.
Who should avoid taking Hftril 50 Tablet?
Patients who are allergic to any of its components must avoid Hftril 50 Tablet. Individuals allergic to ACE inhibitor or ARB medications should also avoid this medicine. It is not suitable for use alongside other antihypertensive drugs, such as ACE inhibitors or ARBs. Consult your doctor before using it for at least 36 hours before or after taking an ACE inhibitor medication if you are unsure.
What should I tell my doctor before taking Hftril 50 Tablet?
Inform your doctor about all medical conditions, including liver or kidney disease and a history of facial swelling (angioedema). Notify your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Also, inform them about all medications you take, especially potassium supplements, potassium-containing drugs, painkillers, blood pressure or heart failure medications (such as ACE inhibitors, ARBs, or Aliskiren).
Can I use Hftril 50 Tablet during pregnancy?
No, Hftril 50 Tablet should not be used during pregnancy. It can potentially harm the baby's health. If you become pregnant while taking Hftril 50 Tablet, discontinue its use and contact your doctor immediately.
How would I know if I have high potassium levels?
Your doctor will periodically assess your blood potassium levels to detect high potassium levels (hyperkalemia). Make sure you do not miss any scheduled doctor appointments.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Hftril 50 Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Alcohol
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Hftril 50 Tablet.
Breastfeed
Hftril 50 Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Pregnancy
Hftril 50 Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Please consult your doctor.
