Hexidine Mouth Wash is used to treat inflammation of gums, killing harmful microorganisms that cause swollen gums, tartar, and bad odor from the mouth. Hexidine Mouth Wash should be used exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow the doctor's instructions or use it in the dose and duration suggested by the doctor. Do not stop using it until you have finished the complete course, even when you feel better. You must avoid eating, drinking, or smoking for at least 30 minutes after using it. It is a safe medicine with little or no side effects. However, it may cause staining of teeth, hard dental plaque, and taste change in some people. Inform your doctor if bothers you or does not go away.
Hexidine Mouth Wash is an antiseptic that binds strongly to the surface of teeth, inner cheeks, and gums. It works by killing the harmful microorganisms that cause swollen gums, tartar, bad odor from the mouth, and other mouth infections.

The duration of use of Hexidine Mouth Wash will depend on the condition it is being prescribed for. If used for gum disease (gingivitis), it may be used for a month. If used for mouth ulcers and thrush, this mouthwash may be used until 2 days after the symptoms are relieved.

Yes, though it does not occur in everyone, Hexidine Mouth Wash may stain your teeth and tongue. Staining is not permanent and may disappear after discontinuation of treatment. Brushing the teeth with regular toothpaste before using Hexidine Mouth Wash can prevent staining. Avoid consuming tannin-containing foods and drinks such as tea and coffee.
Does Hexidine Mouth Wash help bad breath?
Yes, Hexidine Mouth Wash is effective in reducing bad breath, which persists for approximately 3 hours. However, the risk of staining teeth and alteration of taste should be considered before use. Use this medicine judiciously.
How should Hexidine Mouth Wash be used?
It should be used as required. It is generally used twice daily. Rinse your mouth thoroughly for about 1 minute with 10 ml of Hexidine Mouth Wash mouthwash. After rinsing, expel it from your mouth.
What precautions should be followed while using Hexidine Mouth Wash?
Using toothpaste immediately after the mouthwash may interfere with the proper functioning of the mouthwash. Use it before the mouthwash or at a different time of day. Always rinse your mouth before using the mouthwash.
Check the label before use. Take the mouthwash in the quantity as advised by your doctor and put it in your mouth. Swish for 30 seconds to 1 minute and spit it. Do not swallow. Avoid eating, drinking, or smoking for at least 30 minutes after rinsing.
