Heptadaze Syrup is a combination medicine used to treat loss of appetite. It is an effective appetite stimulant. Heptadaze Syrup is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect or be affected by this medicine.
Heptadaze Syrup is a combination of three medicines: Cyproheptadine, tricholine citrate and sorbitol which revives appetite. Cyproheptadine is an appetite-stimulant. It works by reducing the effect of a chemical messenger (serotonin) in the hypothalamus a part of the brain which regulates appetite. Tricholine citrate is a bile acid binding agent which removes bile acids from the body. The liver then produces more bile acids using cholesterol as a result of which cholesterol level is lowered. Sorbitol acts as a syrup base and also as an osmotic laxative to relieve constipation.
Does Heptadaze Syrup cause dry mouth?
Yes, Heptadaze Syrup may cause dry mouth. If you experience dry mouth, drink plenty of water. Take regular sips throughout the day and keep some water by your bedside at night. You may use lip balm if your lips are also dry.
Can Heptadaze Syrup cause dizziness?
Yes, in some individuals using Heptadaze Syrup can lead to dizziness (feeling faint, weak, unsteady, or lightheaded). If you experience dizziness or lightheadedness, it is advisable to rest for a while and resume only when feeling better. Do not drive or operate machinery.
What are the recommended storage conditions for Heptadaze Syrup?
Store this medicine in its original container or package, tightly closed. Refer to the instructions on the packaging label regarding storage. Dispose of unused medicine appropriately. Ensure that it is not consumed by pets, children, or others.
