Gamlin Tablet is a combination of three medicines: Gabapentin, Methylcobalamin and Nortriptyline. Gabapentin is an alpha 2 delta ligand which decreases pain by modulating calcium channel activity of the nerve cells. Methylcobalamin is a form of vitamin B which helps in the production of myelin, a substance that protects nerve fibers and rejuvenates damaged nerve cells. Nortriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant which increases the levels of chemical messengers (serotonin and noradrenaline) that stop the movement of pain signals in the brain. Together, they relieve neuropathic pain (pain from damaged nerves).
Gamlin Tablet is used to treat certain types of long-lasting pain caused by damage to nerves. Inform your doctor if you are taking any other pain-relieving medicines. Along with taking this medicine, your doctor might advise you to undergo physiotherapy to get relief from pain. Avoid taking antacids 2 hours before or after taking Gamlin Tablet as they make it harder for your body to absorb the medicine. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it.
