Flexidine Syrup is a combination medicine used to treat loss of appetite. It is an effective appetite stimulant. Flexidine Syrup is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect or be affected by this medicine.
Flexidine Syrup is a combination of three medicines: Cyproheptadine, tricholine citrate and sorbitol which revives appetite. Cyproheptadine is an appetite-stimulant. It works by reducing the effect of a chemical messenger (serotonin) in the hypothalamus a part of the brain which regulates appetite. Tricholine citrate is a bile acid binding agent which removes bile acids from the body. The liver then produces more bile acids using cholesterol as a result of which cholesterol level is lowered. Sorbitol acts as a syrup base and also as an osmotic laxative to relieve constipation.
Can Flexidine Syrup cause dryness in mouth?
Yes, Flexidine Syrup can cause dryness in mouth. If you experience dryness, drink plenty of water throughout the day. It is recommended to take regular sips, and keep some water readily available at your bedside for nighttime use. You may apply lip balm if your lips also feel dry.
Can Flexidine Syrup cause dizziness?
Yes, Flexidine Syrup can cause dizziness (feeling faint, weak, unsteady, or lightheaded) in some individuals. If you experience dizziness or lightheadedness, it is recommended to rest for some time and resume only when feeling better. Avoid driving or operating machinery until completely recovered.
What is the recommended storage condition for Flexidine Syrup?
