Ethikox 250mg Tablet is an antibiotic used in the treatment and prevention of tuberculosis, an infectious disease that mainly affects the lungs and in some cases other parts of the body. Ethikox 250mg Tablet is usually given in combination with at least one other tuberculosis medicine. It is used in cases where bacteria have developed resistance to other antibacterial medicines. It should be used in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. This medicine may be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time every day. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping it early can result in treatment failure and in the development of drug-resistant tuberculosis. This can lead to serious health complications.
Ethikox 250mg Tablet is an antibiotic. It works by slowing the growth of bacteria that causes tuberculosis.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Ethikox 250mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
- Ethikox 250mg Tablet is effective at treating tuberculosis when taken together with other antibacterial drugs.
- It has to be taken for several months in order for it work properly (usually 6 months).
- It can lower your blood sugar. If you have diabetes, monitor your blood sugar regularly.
- Take it with food to avoid stomach upset.
- Monitor your blood sugar regularly if you have diabetes.
- Your doctor may monitor your liver function, vision, and thyroid function while on treatment with this medicine.
- Some people may experience loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, gastric irritation (inflammation of the stomach lining) and sudden lowering of blood pressure on standing (orthostatic hypotension) as side effects of this medicine. Please consult your doctor if these side effects worry you or do not get better.
Alcohol
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Ethikox 250mg Tablet.
Breastfeed
Ethikox 250mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Pregnancy
Ethikox 250mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
