Drifax 200mg Tablet is an antibiotic medicine used to treat infectious diarrhea. Drifax 200mg Tablet can be used alone or in combination with other medicines. It may be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. It should be used in the dose and duration as advised by the doctor. Take it at the same time each day to get the most benefit and you should keep on taking this medicine for as long as you are prescribed. Stopping it early may make the infection to come back and harder to treat.
Drifax 200mg Tablet is an antibiotic. Drifax 200mg Tablet inhibits the bacteria's ability to make proteins and stops the growth of bacteria that cause infectious diarrhea.
What is the typical duration of treatment with Drifax 200mg Tablet?
The length of time you need to take Drifax 200mg Tablet depends on the condition being treated. For traveler's diarrhea, it's usually prescribed for 3 days, while for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), it's typically given for 14 days.

How long does Drifax 200mg Tablet take to start working for IBS symptoms?
Drifax 200mg Tablet typically begins to show its effects within 24 to 48 hours. The symptoms such as diarrhea may gradually improve after starting treatment, and usually, taking the medication for 2 weeks provides relief from IBS symptoms.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Drifax 200mg Tablet may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
- You have been prescribed Drifax 200mg Tablet for the treatment of infectious diarrhea.
- It should only be taken for a maximum of three days. If your symptoms do not improve after three days, inform your doctor. Do not take a second course of Drifax 200mg Tablet.
- It may cause reddish discoloration of urine. This is normal and harmless.
- Stop taking Drifax 200mg Tablet and inform your doctor if your diarrhoea gets worse or starts to contain blood or mucus.
- Finish the full course of the medication even if you feel better. Stopping the course early increases the risk of coming back of the infection.
- Some people may develop side effects like vomiting, headache, constipation, vomiting, fever, abdominal pain, and nausea.
Alcohol
It is not known whether it is safe to consume alcohol with Drifax 200mg Tablet. Please consult your doctor.
Breastfeed
Drifax 200mg Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Pregnancy
