Cycoline Syrup is a combination medicine used to treat loss of appetite. It is an effective appetite stimulant. Cycoline Syrup is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. Cycoline Syrup is a combination of three medicines: Cyproheptadine, tricholine citrate and sorbitol, which revives appetite. Cyproheptadine is an appetite-stimulant. It works by reducing the effect of a chemical messenger (serotonin) in the hypothalamus a part of the brain which regulates appetite. Tricholine citrate is a bile acid binding agent which removes bile acids from the body. The liver then produces more bile acids using cholesterol as a result of which cholesterol level is lowered. Sorbitol acts as a syrup base and also as an osmotic laxative to relieve constipation.
Can the use of Cycoline Syrup cause dryness in mouth?
Yes, Cycoline Syrup may cause dry mouth. If you experience dry mouth, drink plenty of water. Take regular sips throughout the day and keep some water by your bed at night. You may also use lip balm if your lips are dry.
Can the use of Cycoline Syrup cause dizziness?
Yes, Cycoline Syrup can cause dizziness (feeling faint, weak, unsteady, or lightheaded) in some patients. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded, it is best to rest for a while and resume once you feel better. Do not drive or operate machinery until you feel fully recovered.
What is the recommended storage condition for Cycoline Syrup?
Store Cycoline Syrup in its original container, tightly closed. Store according to the instructions on the label or package. Do not use expired medicine. Dispose of unused medication properly and ensure it is out of reach of pets, children, and other individuals.
