Frequently asked questions

I have been prescribed Colihenz Tablet for Alzheimer’s disease. What is its role, and how does it work?

Colihenz Tablet provides choline, an essential nutrient naturally present in the body. Choline protects nerve cells in the brain from damage and helps repair damaged ones. This enhances learning, memory, and cognitive function (processing information or perception) in patients with Alzheimer’s disease.

Can I take alcohol during treatment with Colihenz Tablet?

There is limited research on the effect of alcohol on Colihenz Tablet's effectiveness. However, for optimal treatment, it is best to avoid alcohol consumption due to potential interactions with medications prescribed for stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson's disease, head injury, and age-related memory impairment.

Can students take Colihenz Tablet to improve memory and learning?

No, students should not take Colihenz Tablet. Studies have shown that this medication is effective only in cases of age-related memory problems, memory problems associated with long-standing strokes, and Alzheimer’s disease. Additionally, there is currently no data supporting its use in children.

What is the role of Colihenz Tablet in stroke?

In cases of stroke caused by blood clots, taking Colihenz Tablet orally can aid recovery within 3 months. Additionally, intravenous (IV) administration of Colihenz Tablet within 12 hours of a stroke or daily for 7 days after a stroke may help patients recover more quickly.
