Cifim O Syrup is an antibiotic medicine commonly given to children to treat bacterial infections targeting the ear, eyes, nose, throat, lungs, skin, gastrointestinal tract, and urinary tract. It can also be used in treating uncomplicated typhoid fever in children and adolescents.
Give this medicine with food to avoid an upset stomach. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect.
Cifim O Syrup is an antibiotic that works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is essential for the survival of the bacteria. By doing so, this medicine stops the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading without making them resistant to further treatment.
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or become resistant or cause another infection. Give this medicine with food to avoid an upset stomach. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Only give Cifim O Syrup to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses. Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child’s doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.
If you think you have given too much of Cifim O Syrup to your child, speak to a doctor immediately. An extra dose is unlikely to cause harm, but an overdose may lead to unwanted side effects and worsen their condition.
Some serious side effects include persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergy, diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. Consult your child's doctor if you experience these symptoms.
Cifim O Syrup can interact with other medicines or substances. Inform your doctor about any other medications your child is taking before starting Cifim O Syrup, and always check with their doctor before giving any additional medicine.
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with vaccines or cause a bad reaction. However, children taking antibiotics should wait until they recover from the illness before getting vaccinated.
Your child's doctor may prescribe kidney function and liver function tests periodically to monitor their condition.
Yellow or green mucus in the nose does not necessarily mean antibiotics are needed. It's normal for mucus to thicken up during a common cold, lasting 7-10 days.
In most cases, bacterial infections do not follow viral illnesses. Using antibiotics for viral infections may lead to side effects without benefiting your child's health. Use antibiotics only after consulting with their doctor.
Children often experience stomach upset while taking antibiotics, and the good bacteria in their gastrointestinal tract may be affected. If your child develops diarrhea on Cifim O Syrup, do not stop the medicine course; instead, consult with their doctor for further guidance.
Yes, irregular treatment, repeated use, and misuse of Cifim O Syrup can contribute to bacterial resistance. Resistant bacteria are no longer killed by the antibiotics, which may lead to reinfection.
Cifim O Syrup is usually prescribed for 7-14 days; you should complete the full treatment duration as advised by your doctor.
