CD Eye Ointment is a medicine used to treat bacterial eye infections. CD Eye Ointment is to be used only in the affected eye. Read the label carefully for instruction before you use the medicine. Use it in the exact dose and duration as advised by the doctor or as instructed in the label. Wash your hands before using this medicine. Do not use too much or too little. Complete your dose and do not stop using the medicine even if you feel better until the doctor says it is alright to stop.
CD Eye Ointment is a combination of two medicines: Chloramphenicol and Hydrocortisone. Chloramphenicol is an antibiotic which stops bacterial growth by inhibiting synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. Hydrocortisone is a steroid medicine. It blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that cause redness, swelling and itching after an allergy or infection.
How long does CD Eye Ointment take to work?
CD Eye Ointment usually starts working soon after use, but it might take several days to eliminate all harmful bacteria and make you feel better.
Can I stop using CD Eye Ointment when I feel better?
No, do not stop using CD Eye Ointment before completing the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cured.
This medicine is for external use only. Take it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Hold the tube close to the eye without touching it. Gently squeeze the tube and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid.
