Avenza P Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. Avenza P Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.
Avenza P Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Avenza P Dry Syrup?
Avenza P Dry Syrup may interact with other medications or substances. Always inform your child's doctor about all medications they are currently taking before starting Avenza P Dry Syrup, and consult with their doctor before administering any medication to a child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Avenza P Dry Syrup?
Generally, antibiotics do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently been vaccinated. However, children receiving antibiotics should avoid vaccination until they are free from illness. Once your child feels better, the vaccine can be administered.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Avenza P Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
With prolonged therapy, periodic monitoring of kidney and liver function tests might be necessary by the doctor to assess your child's condition.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Avenza P Dry Syrup to my child?
No. Giving a higher dose of this medicine can increase the risk of side effects. If you observe worsening symptoms, consult your child's doctor for re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving Avenza P Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
No. Do not discontinue this medication without finishing the full course of treatment, even if you feel better. Symptoms may improve before complete infection resolution. Continue the medicine as prescribed.
Can the use of Avenza P Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Avenza P Dry Syrup can lead to diarrhea. This is because it is an antibiotic that kills harmful bacteria. Additionally, it may disrupt beneficial bacteria in your child's stomach leading to this side effect. Encourage your child to drink fluids if they experience diarrhea. If diarrhea persists and you observe signs of dehydration (e.g., decreased urination with dark-colored and strong-smelling urine), consult your doctor before administering any other medications.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Most times, bacterial infections do not follow viral infections. In fact, antibiotics are generally not necessary for viral infections as their use can increase the risk of complications. Therefore, consult your child's doctor before administering any antibiotic.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green mucus in the nose does not automatically indicate a need for antibiotics. During a common cold, it's normal for mucus to thicken and change color from clear to yellow or green. Symptoms usually last for 7-10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
Call your child's doctor immediately if they experience a serious allergic reaction (breathing difficulties, skin rashes), gastrointestinal problems (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, pallor, vomiting). These side effects are rare but could be life-threatening. It is crucial to seek immediate medical attention in such cases.
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.
