The medicine works by making the pupil of your eye larger and relaxing the muscles in your eye, allowing proper examination. It also helps reduce inflammation or swelling in the eye.
This medicine is for external use only. Take it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Hold the tube close to the eye without touching it. Gently squeeze the tube and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid.

Atropine Eye Ointment is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby. Milk secretion may decrease.

Generally it is not advised to wear contact lenses but if you have to wear then wait for 15 minutes to reuse. You may be asked for regular eye checkups before and during the treatment. Stop using medication or inform your doctor if you notice eye irritation, redness, swelling of the eyelids, and sensitivity to bright light. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
Atropine Eye Ointment is contraindicated in individuals with or suspected glaucoma, as it may exacerbate high eye pressure. Additionally, it should not be used if there is an existing eye infection.
Upon initial use, the medication may result in watery eyes and occasional blurred vision. This effect typically resolves quickly; ensure clear vision before engaging in activities that require visual acuity, such as driving or operating machinery.
Seek immediate consultation with your doctor if you experience an eye infection, conjunctivitis, eyelid reaction, or any eye injury/surgery. Additionally, discuss continued use of the medication with your doctor.
It is recommended not to wear contact lenses while using this medication. You can reinsert your lens 15 minutes after administering Atropine Eye Ointment. If you experience persistent eye irritation, consult with your doctor.
Prioritize consultation with your doctor before using any additional eye drops alongside Atropine Eye Ointment. A minimum gap of 10-15 minutes is advisable between medications.
The standard dosage is one to two drops administered daily. If you have any doubts, consult with your doctor for personalized guidance.
If you experience irritation, pain, swelling, excessive tear production, or light sensitivity in the eyes, remember to flush the treated eye(s) with room temperature water for at least 15 minutes. Stop using the medication and consult your doctor immediately.
