Appirad Syrup is a combination medicine used to treat loss of appetite. It is an effective appetite stimulant. Appirad Syrup is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect or be affected by this medicine.
Appirad Syrup is a combination of three medicines: Cyproheptadine, tricholine citrate and sorbitol which revives appetite. Cyproheptadine is an appetite-stimulant. It works by reducing the effect of a chemical messenger (serotonin) in the hypothalamus a part of the brain which regulates appetite. Tricholine citrate is a bile acid binding agent which removes bile acids from the body. The liver then produces more bile acids using cholesterol as a result of which cholesterol level is lowered. Sorbitol acts as a syrup base and also as an osmotic laxative to relieve constipation.
Does Appirad Syrup cause dry mouth?
Yes, Appirad Syrup can cause dryness in the mouth (xerostomia). If you experience this side effect, drink plenty of water. Take regular sips throughout the day and keep some water by your bed at night. You may also use lip balm if your lips feel dry.
Can Appirad Syrup cause dizziness?
Yes, Appirad Syrup can cause dizziness (feeling faint, weak, unsteady, or lightheaded) in some patients. If you experience dizziness or lightheadedness, rest for a short period and resume activities when feeling better. Do not drive or operate machinery until you feel well.
What are the recommended storage conditions for Appirad Syrup?
Store Appirad Syrup in its original container, tightly closed. Keep the medication according to the instructions on the packaging label. Dispose of unused portions. Ensure the medicine is inaccessible to pets, children, and other people.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Appirad Syrup may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
