Apetiz Plus Syrup is a combination medicine used to treat loss of appetite. It is an effective appetite stimulant. Apetiz Plus Syrup is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect or be affected by this medicine.
Apetiz Plus Syrup is a combination of three medicines: Cyproheptadine, tricholine citrate and sorbitol which revives appetite. Cyproheptadine is an appetite-stimulant. It works by reducing the effect of a chemical messenger (serotonin) in the hypothalamus a part of the brain which regulates appetite. Tricholine citrate is a bile acid binding agent which removes bile acids from the body. The liver then produces more bile acids using cholesterol as a result of which cholesterol level is lowered. Sorbitol acts as a syrup base and also as an osmotic laxative to relieve constipation.
What potential side effects may occur when using Apetiz Plus Syrup?
The use of Apetiz Plus Syrup can cause dry mouth in some patients. To manage this, drinking plenty of water throughout the day and keeping it by your bed at night is recommended. Additionally, lip balm may be used if lips are also affected. Furthermore, the syrup can cause dizziness (feeling faint, weak, unsteady or lightheaded) in some individuals. If you experience dizziness, take a break and resume once you feel better; avoid operating heavy machinery or driving.
How should Apetiz Plus Syrup be stored?
To maintain the effectiveness of Apetiz Plus Syrup, store it in its original container or pack, tightly closed. Follow the storage instructions provided on the packaging or label. Dispose of any unused medicine properly and ensure it is inaccessible to pets, children, and others.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Apetiz Plus Syrup may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
