Introduction

You should always use Afthus Gel exactly as your doctor has told you. It is only for use on the skin but do not use the cream or ointment on your face for more than recommended. Do not cover the area you have treated with a bandage or plaster unless your doctor tells you to. You should use this medicine regularly but do not apply large amounts or use it for longer than prescribed. It should be spread thinly. Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve after 2 weeks of treatment. Afthus Gel has a few potential side effects but not everyone will get them. These may include allergic skin reactions, bacterial skin infections, acne, thinning or a change in color of the skin, burning, stinging, and itching. Serious allergic reactions to this drug are rare but let your doctor know if you are bothered by side effects or they do not go away. Not all creams are likely to work for all skin conditions and may make some worse. Make sure you read the instructions that come with your medicine. Let your doctor know about any medical issues you have, especially poor blood circulation, diabetes, and immune system problems, as well as about other medicines you are taking (particularly steroids).

This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the gel. Wash your hands after applying unless hands are the affected area.

Afthus Gel is a steroid. It works by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen, and itchy.

Afthus Gel is used to treat the redness, swelling, itching, and discomfort of various skin conditions. It should be applied to the affected areas as a thin film two or three times daily or as advised by your doctor. Don't use it more often or for longer than advised by your doctor. Don't cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor as this may increase the risk of side effects. If you think the area of skin you are treating has become infected you should stop using Afthus Gel and consult your doctor. Consult your doctor if your skin condition has not improved after 2 weeks of treatment.
